A little about me

My name is John Laninga, a full time RVer, with an interest in technology.  This blog will detail my experiences with the WiFi Ranger product as I try to install and use it in a variety of locations.

At one time, I was an early adopter with computer technology.  I pioneered new applications, both hardware and software.  Thousands of sites were designed, installed, and supported.  I guess I was a computer “expert”.  But then, it gradually evolved away from me.  Management became much more demanding and when the company hit 8 figures in sales I relied entirely on my tech staff.

Now, I consider myself amongst the “slightly enlightened” when it comes to computer technology.  Yet, I use it all the time.  I have PCs, Macs, iPods, iPads, Androids, and soon a Xoom in my motor home.  I have my own wireless system, a traveling hot spot so to speak.

Although I really like new technology, I don’t want to be an early adopter.  But new tech = early adopter, so here I am playing with stuff I really don’t think I’m particularly  knowledgeable on.  So the rest of this blog is on my user experiences, and I’ll leave detailed technology discussions for others.

My company is looking at putting WiFi Rangers or something similar in RVs, so it’s interesting to read your experiences. Please keep it up. Is the Cyfre unit still going to be used with your new setup?
